Dick is a lifelong resident of Mishawaka whose practice focuses on the areas of estate planning and administration. A former member of the City of Mishawaka’s legal staff representing the City’s Utility and Planning Departments under Mayor Bob Kovach, he currently serves as Mishawaka’s Code Enforcement Hearing Officer. Dick also serves as attorney to the Mishawaka-Penn-Harris Public Library, a role he has held for over thirty years.
After graduating from Mishawaka High School in 1972, Dick received his BA from Wabash College in 1976, where he majored in philosophy and graduated Phi Beta Kappa, summa cum laud. He went on to earn his JD degree magna cum laud from the Indiana University Law School in 1979. After graduation he practiced a wide range of law with his father Robert S. Currey until 2008 when he began working with attorney James J. Olson to continue a law firm with roots going back to 1909 when John Schindler, Sr. began the legal practice that now continues as “Schindler, Olson, Currey & Dendiu”.
Dick is a member of School City of Mishawaka’s Board of School Trustees and also serves on the boards of the Community Foundation of St. Joseph County, South Bend Civic Theatre, and the Mishawaka Lions Club. He is a former multi-term member of the boards of the Mishawaka Education Foundation, Mishawaka Business Association, and the River Bend Camp Fire Council.
In his free time Dick enjoys spending time with his family, reading, gardening, cooking, and traveling.
